I would absolutely love to try the new simulation once it is out!!! I saw the swoop pond, the hanger and pea pit and all I could think about was my home dropzone skydive new england....

Thank you for your simulator, it's quite useful, specially for beginners and people who need to practice.
I just want to ask, if it's possible to include some animated examples of landing and some tutorial for each condition, maybe Brian Germain could do it as your sponsor , I think it could be very useful, specially for the beginners.
Keep up inovating!

Thanks, netco. The goal is to make the simulator as useful as possible. Your feedback and support are crucial!

I completely agree with you. I suppose you mean something like some of our videos.

Computer simulations of this kind are new to skydivers and it looks like majority of skydiving community did not yet realize the full potential or possible impact that it can have on our sport. Let's keep talking about it, then people will start paying closer attention to us and this will move everything forward. I believe Biran will be happy to hear more about this subject from people. The fact that it's not done yet. You can reach him directly through his website. This way he gets input from both sides.

Meanwhile everyone can create small snippets and put them online. Look at Making videos of the simulation.

First, I think I'm responding to Canopy Glide comments, when I'm actually talking about the new Landing Pattern program.

Great improvements and neat stuff. Still needs work, but I purchased the software because I want to support your efforts.

We put "Repeat jump" button so that the same jump can be repeated right away with the same conditions, which makes it easier to be ready.

I thought I was going to be able to change starting altitude in the full version, but this is not the case. Starting at 570' in the simulation doesn't give one much time to play with the canopy. I'd really like to be able to start at over 1000'. It would be nice to be able to start at 3500' to simulate the entire descent.

By the time I managed to adjust my field of vision I was already toast on the ground.
From the first person perspective it's not possible to see both hands. To compensate for that there is an indicator of the hand positions in the right middle part of the screen.

The hands indicator shows how far each toggle is pulled, but what's really needed here is some sort of an indicator on when you're facing forward. Since there wasn't turning in Canopy Glide, this wasn't as big an issue.

However, in Landing Pattern this causes a pretty big problem for me under first person perspective. When I turn, I tend to look the direction I'm going to turn, and then turn. This results in a lot of oversteering. (Look right, turn right, follow the target and level out, and find out I've turned too far). Seems to me that artificially making the hands or front risers visible would help this. Alternatively, some sort of a HUD aspect that shows which way you're looking in relation to forward would help. The best solution I've found is to look down, but this is inconvenient as I often lose sight of the target.

A few other comments:

I'm not able to land the 220sqft canopy when practicing as a 200lb student. This is pretty close to my actual wing loading, and some pretty good flares have still resulted in broken bones. Maybe giving me numbers on what my forward speed and descent rate were would help me judge if it was an acceptable landing.

The render distance when close to the ground seems way to small. The strange fading between textured grass and green and sky is off-putting. I suspect my hardware would support better, but it doesn't seem to be an option.

The 'Tutorial' needs more landmarks or the little brown spots that turn up on the regular simulation's grass to give a better perspective of speed and direction on landing.

More dropzones! I really thought when I purchased the program that I'd get other choices than skydive NE. Hopefully you'll get some DZ's that want you to model their dropzone, but if not, you should still make a couple more available for the new buyer.

The 'Buy Game' button in the game didn't work for me, giving me the error: "Purchase Returned: Missing Engine". I managed to find the link to the online store, but you might want to look into this.

Thank you for your support! That what moves everything forward.

It is in the todo list.

I've created a new thread Direction Indicator.

Landing speed also depends on the wind strength and direction. Meaning that it is harder to get perfect landing in no wind conditions, because in real life you slide along the ground to a stop, while the simulation stops the moment the ground is touched. In future versions we will account for that as well. You should be able to see what your vertical and horizontal speeds were at the moment of touchdown. Look at the attached screenshoot.

Could you post some screenshoots to explain that? You can press F12 during the simulation to take a screenshoot. It will be placed in the log directory.

That makes sense.

I am working on it. Talk to the DZOs where you jump! With their interest things move much faster.

Thanks a lot. I will look into that!
